The piece, If, talks about the power of regret, patience, and being still to once’ self being. Though the piece has a lot to talk about regrets, The Grade 9 SPJ showed none.

On the recently concluded Book Week Festival the Rudyard Kipling piece, If, was used in the Speech Choir which was joined by 4 competitors. By their patience and determination they were able to snatch the top spot in the last competition.

“Grabe po ang struggles namin, some struggles po ay hectic masyado yung sched kulang masyado sa oras saka hindi din po madalas naattend nung iba kasi mga nagkasakit, tapos nahirapan din po magpractice kase kulang sa members lalo na sa lalaki. Tas magastos din po sa props, pero worth it kasi nanalo kami.” Stated by Cyrah Luistro, a proud Gryffindor.

Many problems and struggles put them into the test and when it came to overcoming them, she said that the key is determination and courage. They also wanted to make their adviser proud. “Yung goal kasi namin, makapagperform lang, bonus nalang yung manalo kami.” She added.

Throughout their five to ten minute performance, they showed incredible eagerness to win and to succeed.

“Magaling talaga, lalo na nung nag peperform sila,” said by Johna Silos, a Senior SPJ student.

This experience of the Grade 9 Gryffindor taught many to keep reaching and keep on doing what it takes to succeed.

This happening also proved that there’s no such thing as impossible if determination is present on the things they are working.
