The Quezon National High School (PMPQ) has conducted Cleanup Drive through the school nurse and the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (SDRRMC) to avoid the spread of dengue cases.
The QNHS promotes such activities to monopolize every corner of the school and to prevent possible mosquito bites that may affect students. According to Ms. Mary Rose Hey, school nurse of 24 students and 1 teacher has been reported to have dengue cases at school.
"It's a small percentage but it's alarming especially and your 25 cases on our record are increasing," he added. After these steps, the Clean up drive was practiced throughout the school. Mr, Allan Abisamis explained. Deputy Chief of (SDRRMC) said Clean up drive was not enough but it still helped the school especially with the student's health and condition. In response to the students, everyone participated in cleaning the classroom and mosquito repellent areas because they were alert to the purpose of doing so.
According to Jeymar Pena, students who participated in the activity were a big help in the clean up drive because the school was clean, the waste was reduced and most of all it was possible to get sick.
Clean up drive is designed to prevent diseases caused by polluted environment such as timely dengue disease.
"It would be great if we continued this project and if everyone would cooperate we would certainly be successful", said Ms. Hey.
