Grade 10 woodpusher Jan Godwen Cagat-Cagat holds a sweet win over G9 Enan Andaya after passing the Queen and Wrook checkmate to win the Mens Chess Finals 2019 championship at the Alumni Building, Quezon National High School yesterday.
Cagat-cagat had an early advantage after acquiring Andaya's knight due to its fragile defense. Andaya fed her bishop in exchange for Cagat-cagat's wrook after sealing the pawn.
After losing the witch of Cagat-cagat, he immediately made his way after eating another knight of Andaya so it was easy for him to attack.
Cagat-cagat further consolidated his offense after he ousted Andaya's bishop from the defense of his knight and queen.
Andaya's attack became crucial after she hit Cagat-cagat's wrook so she lost her support to her queen.
Cagat-cagat continued to suffer when he lost his wrook and made it an advantage for Andaya to compensate for the loss of his other officers.
